Taking on the role of a witch doctor, which Dudeck defines as a hybrid of an artist and a cultural engineer, he invents a queer mythology that revolves around his version of the iconic Messiah. In his interview with Barbara, he discusses how his persona as a witch doctor has shaped his practice and explains how his latest work is a statement on the role and his experience as an artist. Exploring contradictions and the tensions that they invoke are at the centre of his work, “I feel the art world is the only space large enough to hold all the contradictions I carry” (0:56).
