Marianne Lovink’s show surveys a decade of work that exhibits her flair for sculpting pieces drawn from a wide array of materials. In her interview with Barbara, she discusses how science and nature have been the engine of her work, the beauty of working with different materials, and the challenges of taking her art to public spaces. A bit of scientist herself, Lovink’s work is an experiment in molding different forms and she is able to manipulate materials with ease. She says, “I’m interested in creating a hybrid form, something that is partly based in reality and in my imagination.”
